Bishop Westcott Schools were founded by the Rt. Rev. Foss Westcott then Metropolitan of India in 1921. Formely belonging to the Conference of Anglo Indian Schools. The Institution now belongs to the Diocese of Chotanagpur (Church of North India) with the Bishop of Chotanagpur, the Rt. Rev. B.B. Baskey as its President.
Bishop Westcott Girls’ School, Doranda is the “Brain Child” of the Rt. Rev. Z.J. Terom, the former Bishop of Chotanagpur and the former Moderator of the Church of North India, who was keen on continuing the principles, ideals and visions of the Rt. Rev. Foss Westcott.
Our Founder has dedicated himself to the growing up of educational standards of this institution with a vision to see Bishop Westcott Girls’ School, Doranda, uplifting the standard of education not only in the city of Ranchi but in Jharkhand and emerging as one of the best centres of knowledge.
It has molded itself from some of the best schools of India and despite this, it has its own uniqueness.
Established in the year 1996, it has in this short span of its existence, crossed many milestones and today is considered to be one of the best I.C.S.E. Schools of Ranchi.

The school has a well managed playground, where all the privilege for outdoor games are catered for like Basketball, volleyball and Badminton.
To improve the emotional and intellectual quotient of the students and to generate interest and concentration of their minds “Dance and Yoga” have been introduced for which trained personnel are appointed.
